Seller Spotlight: Q&A with Mathew June

Mathew June and his wife Elizabeth began selling on Amazon as a way to make extra money and accomplish their goal to become debt free. However, with limited capital, their inventory sourcing options were limited. They spent their first couple months sourcing inventory at thrift stores and garage sales.

Payability gave the Junes more options. Daily cash flow allowed them to scale their Amazon business, purchase top selling inventory whenever and wherever it’s available and pay off debt faster. They are already seeing the profits roll in.

What does your typical day look like?

I work full time and Elizabeth is a stay-at-home mom to our three kids. We keep tabs on our business throughout the day, but we do most of our sourcing at night and on the weekends. One of us is out and sourcing each night until probably 8 or 9 p.m. while the other takes care of the homefront.

What’s your biggest challenge as an Amazon seller?

Balancing full-time responsibilities with trying to grow a thriving Amazon business can be challenging.

What do you love most about being an Amazon seller?

We love the ease of utilizing Fulfillment by Amazon so we can scale our business more efficiently. It also gives us a sense of pride to be associated with an incredible brand like Amazon.

What’s your favorite part of the selling process?

My favorite part of the selling process is when we add a new item to our inventory and it sells for the profit we thought. It provides a great sense of accomplishment and makes us addicted to refreshing our sales numbers on the Amazon seller app throughout the day.

What advice do you have for sellers looking to grow their business?

My biggest piece of advice is “just do it.” Don’t wait till tomorrow, don’t second guess yourself, etc. Just learn the basics and then dive in!

How do you put your Payability money to work?

During Q4 right now, we are using it to source and send in shipments every single day. Gotta keep feeding the beast!

Do you have any other tricks to maximize your money?

We try to use cash back credit cards, store rewards, etc. With Payability, we are able to pay off those credit cards every single day. The credit card companies probably think we are nuts.

What’s your next big goal as a seller?

Our next goal is to earn enough money during Q4 to be able to become personally debt free. We are almost there.

Do you sell on other marketplaces?

We are using eBay on a minimal basis. However, when we are more experienced with Amazon, we plan on expanding to other marketplaces to diversify our risk.

How have you prepared for Q4 and the holiday shopping season?

We prepared for the holiday rush by signing up for Payability so we can have the capital to spend on the hot items! Also, by getting as much rest as possible for those late nights of chasing down inventory.

The future is bright for Mathew June and his family’s Amazon business. Thanks to daily cash flow, they are well on their way to surpassing their goals as they continue to grow.
